Harry Potter series fight between Sky and Warner Bros.
Sky has sued Warner Bros. over the Harry Potter series. In a lawsuit filed in a US court, Sky says Warner Bros. breached an agreement requiring it to co-finance and offer distribution rights to four series a year for the launch of HBO Max in Europe.
Sky argues that one of those series should have been the Harry Potter project announced last year but not made available to them. According to the lawsuit, when the company requested information about the series in May, Warner Bros. executives said it had not yet been approved.
However, it was revealed in May that Warner Bros. had made several casting choices for the series. Sky argues that this constitutes a breach of contract. He believes that Warner Bros. is moving the series forward behind the scenes.
If the allegations are true, it is possible to say that the long-standing agreement between Sky and Warner Bros. In this context, the European rights to many series published by Warner Bros. and HBO may also be left in the middle.
Warner Bros. has defended its previous statements, saying that the lawsuit is baseless and that Sky wants to gain an advantage in the new negotiations.
